Our family kept busy during Tennyson's week long Winter Break from school last month. The first day of break our family went candlepin bowling! What's that you say--what is candlepin bowling? Yeah, that is what I asked too! Apparently it orginated during the 1800's about 15 miles from (in Worcester) where we live here in Boston. Since then, it has spread all over New England and up into Canada. Candlepin bowling is quite similar to the the same bowling most of us are accustomed too, but the pins are much taller and thinner than standard bowling pins. Also, the balls are much much smaller. The smaller balls are great for the kids' hands, however, it makes it much harder to hit all the pins. When I asked an employee if there are any "regular bowling alleys" around, he looked at me as if I were crazy! He then informed me that this is pretty much the only kind of bowling one will find here in New England! Interesting, huh?! That's okay. We had a GREAT time! We will definitely be doing more candlepin bowling before our stay in Boston is over!!

Edie and I were the cheerleaders.
Three days later, we saw Disney on Ice at The Garden (home of the Celtics). We went with my good friend, April, and her three kiddos (who are about the same ages as our own kids). April's husband is a first year podiatry resident too, so we have a lot in common with their family! The kids had such a great time and ate way way way too many sweets!
