4th of July Weekend 2011

Since the weather was just gorgeous, we decided to head to Walden Pond (the same Walden Pond where the poet Henry David Thoreau lived for two years) for the day. Lucky for us it is only a 10 minute drive from our house so, we didn't have to listen to the kids asking, "Are we there yet???" We enjoyed a beautiful hike around the pond that was just perfect. It was nice and flat for the kids with plenty of rocks along the trail for them to throw in the water.
The site of Thoreau's cabin.
Conan had to work in the E.R. on the 4th, so I decided to hit up the fireworks alone with the kids. We met up with some new friends at our local high school for a fantastic fireworks show. Tennyson and Asher LOVED the show. Eden mostly slept through it.
Since just about every article of clothing that Eden owns is pink, purple, or yellow, I had to raid the boys' old box of clothes to find this 6 month blue onsie! Despite being a wee big on her, it was perfect! I made sure to put a bow in her hair so people wouldn't think she was a boy!
Surprise!! Lucky for us, Conan got off work early and was able to meet up with us for fireworks. (by this point, Tennyson had turned into a grumpus!!)
Hope you all had a great 4th!!

Only 10 minutes away? That's awesome. When else are you going to be able to say "I lived 10 min away from Walden Pond but 15 min from Target."

It looks so beautiful there.
